Elderly helpline to be launched in Iran
TEHRAN – A helpline providing counselling services for the elderly will be launched in Iran, deputy director for prevention department of Welfare Organization has said, Fars reported on Friday.
The elderly helpline provides care and support for people aging 65 and above, Fatemeh Abbasi remarked.
A committee for the elderly has been established by the Welfare Organization, she said, adding also, its directives are approved, which totally benefit the aging community.
She also noted that mental condition of elderly should be taken into serious consideration, since elder abuse has emerged in the society.
“In the coming years, older people will have higher level of education and life expectancy, so a special mechanism is required for different stages of aging,” she concluded.
